About Us

Bolster Collaborative is a division of Vision Training Associates, Inc. Founded in 2013, Bolster Collaborative builds on over a decade of our history in positive youth development, including our role coordinating Search Institute’s® training and speaking events from September 2000 through June 2013. Our work is steeped in that history and sustains our commitment to the Developmental Asset® framework as a central element of our orientation and approach.*

From 2008 to 2013, we were partners in an extensive National Institute of Drug Abuse study in the state of Maine, headed by the RAND Corporation. Since 2010 we have been a national partner of the National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments (formerly Safe and Supportive Schools Technical Assistance Center). In this role we developed several training toolkits that are available free of charge from the Center’s website.

Bolster Collaborative and Vision Training Associates, Inc. continue a history of offering high-quality resources based on the latest social science on Developmental Assets, positive youth development, and related science. Through our new structure, we intend to engage and support an ever-growing number of professionals, volunteers, community members, and parents as collaborators in improving organizations and communities for young people.

About Our Co-Founders

Tim and Donna Duffey co-founded Bolster Collaborative to sustain and expand work they have been engaged in for nearly 15 years. As a husband and wife team, they have provided leadership to a cadre of North American speakers and trainers with a passionate commitment to delivering high-quality, science-informed content. Presented through engaging and interactive presentations, this content inspires and transforms individual action, organizational practice, and community norms.

Donna has a unique blend of child development, special education practice, business development, and accounting. Each of these fields of experience inform her commitment to the health and wellbeing of young people and those who are committed to nurturing their ability to thrive. Her breadth of experience working with change agents in organizations and communities across North America provides her extensive knowledge of practical implementation strategies to support thriving children and youth. She will very likely be your first point of contact with Bolster Collaborative if you reach us by telephone.

Tim’s professional experience is rooted in early roles as a guidance counselor, Director of Guidance, state level Department of Education work, and involvement in Student Assistance Team efforts nationally. More recently he has provided extensive leadership to dissemination of Search Institute’s Developmental Asset information worldwide and serves in national capacities to ensure creation of safe, supportive school cultures.
