Erin Walsh


Professional History

Before joining Bolster Collaborative, Erin was instrumental to the development of the MediaWise movement and enjoyed working with her father, Dr. David Walsh, for 10 years at the National Institute on Media and the Family until they joined forces with Search Institute in 2010. Erin is also a national speaker with Mind Positive Parenting and is Program Director at the Higher Education Consortium for Urban Affairs where she developed and directs a program for undergraduate students called Making Media, Making Change. Erin taps into her experience counseling and leading young people in outdoor and wilderness experiences and has consulted with schools, school districts, and youth serving organizations throughout North America on issues related to digital technologies and positive youth development.

Major presentations and trainings

Erin has delivered hundreds of presentations including keynote addresses and interactive workshops. In addition to numerous school districts and community-based organizations, she has presented to audiences including the YMCA, Alabama Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, Camp Fire, Cargill Corporation, Go Girls!, Head Start, Minnesota Early Childhood Family Education, Oklahoma University and the Youth Philanthropy Initiative, Saskatoon Teacher’s Association, Search Institute’s Big Tent, Nova Scotia Teacher’s Union, and Ontario Public Health Units.

Community Activities

Erin serves on the YMCA Camp Widjiwagan board and founded a small fundraising non-profit “Friends of Q’ewar,” a partner organization to a community-based organization in Andahuaylillas, Peru called The Q’ewar Project.
